Identity Thief

In today’s world of technology and credit cards, we see all kinds of tricksters hacking into electronic accounts and stealing people’s identities.  I have heard of people having false tax returns filed in their names; thousands of dollars charged on a stolen credit card within minutes; credit lines ruined in a matter of hours…………all due to sneaky, slimy thieves who spend more time being deceptive than trying to get a real job and do some good in this world.

That’s the devil prowling around. He is stealing people’s identities and being deceptive.  He shows up in what seems like the coolest of places and the most exciting and fun things.  He disguises himself and once he lures you in, sadness, depression, hurt and pain rear their ugly head and he is right there laughing in the background.  He is the joker in the deck of cards.  He is the murderer of dreams.  He is the salt in the wound.  He is the bottle to the alcoholic.  He is the liar in the story. He is the villain in the fairy tale.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  I Peter 5:8.

Don’t let him steal your joy.  Don’t let him steal your goodness. Don’t let him steal your peace.  Don’t let him steal WHO you are.  He is an identity thief and he wants nothing more than to be God.  Don’t let his disguise fool you.  We protect our identity with one of the trusted protection companies.  We should do the same with our Christian identity.  God is the protection.  His word the shield and answer to everything.

Just like you protect your credit cards and driver’s license, hold tight to your identity in Christ.  Be careful……….the little thief is prowling around just waiting to strike!

Sit, Soak and Smile

When I think about “Sit, Soak and Smile“, I think about sitting in a bubble bath, soaking in the warm water, with candles burning in the room and no kids screaming.  Just relaxing.  And it all makes me smile!!

I also think of sitting on a beach, soaking up the sun and smiling as I listen to the waves!

I love life.  I love my family. I love my friends.  I love doing for other people.  It all makes me smile!!

These blessings come from God, and I am so thankful for each of them.  Sometimes I get so caught up in my everyday life and busyness of the day that I forget to thank God for all the blessings.

Today, tomorrow and the next day, don’t forget to Sit in a quiet place, Soak up God’s presence and Smile at Him for all to see!  It will make people wonder what you’re up to………and then you can tell them!!  Emoji

Are we there yet?

Remember family vacations when you were little and asking, “are we there yet?”  A lot of times it may have been just a few hours into the trip before asking that question.  There are times even as an adult I find myself asking that question on trips whether on an airplane or in a car.

I ask God that question sometimes when I am going through trials and I know He is trying to grow my faith.  There are times I get down and depressed or get aggravated that things aren’t going fast enough.

In the Bible story of Jacob and Rachel, we see Jacob agreeing to work seven years in order to gain Rachel’s hand in marriage.  Then her father tricked Jacob and gave him Rachel’s sister, Leah, and told Jacob he had to work seven more years to get the love of his life, Rachel.  Although Jacob was very patient in order to get the wife he loved, I’m sure there were times he asked “are we there yet?”

When Rachel and Jacob were finally married, Rachel longed to be a mother but she was not able to bear children right away.  She was very jealous of her sister, Leah, who was giving birth to Jacob’s children. Rachel became so jealous that she decided to take matters into her own hands and had her maidservant become a surrogate for her so she could become a mother.

Rachel did not wait on the Lord.  Rachel said “are we there yet, Lord?” but she didn’t wait on His answer.  However, eventually God did bless Rachel and Jacob with several children, one of whom would become Jacob’s favorite child, Joseph.

Unfortunately, we see ourselves doing this today.   We may ask God, “is it time yet?”  or “are we there yet?” and He doesn’t answer fast enough so we decide to take matters into our own hands. And most of the time, we end up making a mess of everything.

It’s important to just sit back and enjoy the journey and let God drive us to the destination – just like when we were kids and our parents were taking us to the Grand Canyon.  God is good and I imagine when His son, who is sitting at His right hand, looks down on this wretched world, He, too, is asking God, “Are we there yet?”  At any moment, God can answer “yes, go get them.”  Will YOU be ready?  Or will you say, “I didn’t think we were there yet?”

Forgive and Live Free

The sister of one of the victims of the Charleston, SC shootings said, “we are the family that love built. We have no room for hate, so we have to forgive.”

The husband of another victim urged the shooter to repent and accept Christ as his savior.  He said, “I forgive you and my family forgives you.”

These people definitely showed the love of Christ by forgiving the shooter of their loved ones.  How wonderful this is!

We may not have to forgive someone for shooting a family member (or maybe you do) but everyday we have the choice to forgive.  We have the choice to love.

A lot of people are mad at someone and have been for a long time.  Maybe they have been mad for so long they don’t even remember why they aren’t talking to the person.

Today is the day to forgive.  Today is the day to let it go.  If the sister can forgive the killer of her brother and the husband can forgive the killer of his wife, in christian love, we can surely forgive ANYTHING less!  Your life is built on love.  There is no room for hate.  We have to forgive.

Jesus said it.  He meant it.  Paul repeated it.  Colossians 3:13 – “Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another.  Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

Give it up today.  Whatever IT is.  Show mercy like Christ showed mercy and like the people in Charleston, SC are showing mercy.  You can do it.  God wants to help you.  Just let Him and live in freedom.
