Enough for Who?

The women of our church had a fun movie night last night watching the movie “Mom’s Night Out”.  If you haven’t seen it, you should!  It is hilarious.  It’s about 3 women who decide to have a night out and all the things that can go wrong with dads in charge of toddlers, preschoolers and teenagers.

One of my favorite parts of the movie is when the mother of three little ones is at her wit’s end  and has a chat with a new friend who is helping the women get these messes cleaned up.  He is a biker named Bones who is covered in tattoos with chains hanging from his belt.  But he is a tender soul who helps the momma see that she is too hard on herself.

She is crying and feeling sorry for herself and saying how all that she does for her husband and children and everyone else is just never enough.  She tries to fix everything and just makes a mess out of it and she is just “not enough”.  And Bones asks her the most profound question:  “Enough for Who?  Enough for You?”

He is trying to get her to realize that she has set the standard for herself at perfection and when you try to be perfect, you will never be enough for yourself.  But you need to be who God made you.  You need to be YOU.  You need to seek His will for your life and quit trying to be perfect and fix everything.

I think we all fall into this thinking at some time in our lives whether we are parents, coaches, bosses or friends.  We start feeling sorry for ourselves when things don’t go as perfect as we had conjured up in our minds they should be.  We start doubting what we can do and who we are made to be.

So STOP IT RIGHT NOW!  Stop feeling sorry for yourself.  Stop worrying if you are “enough”.  You are enough!!  You go out and be who God created you to be.  You give it your best effort.  You love those kids.  You clean that house.  You coach that team.  You lead those coworkers and you have fun and do things for your friends.

Enough for who?  Maybe not enough for YOUR STANDARDS but you are a creation of God and He made you.  You are ENOUGH!  Now go be who you are called to be…….and maybe you can help someone realize they, too, are enough – just like Bones.     Emoji

STAND TALL and kneel down

It was 14 years ago today that the biggest battle on the war of terrorism began in New York City.  I remember where I was standing when we realized exactly what was going on.  I’m sure you do, too.

I remember almost everything being cancelled around the country.  Every single airport was closed.   Strangers bonded together as we had a common battle to fight nationwide.  This country came together not only standing tall to fight against the enemy but falling on their knees to pray for higher intervention.

We are still fighting the world-wide war on terror!  But we cannot forget that we are also fighting our own war against the devil in our everyday lives.  We went to see the movie War Room last night and what appropriate timing as today is 9-11.  The movie is a story of a couple that is growing apart and the ways of the world are about to destroy the family unit.  But the “war room” in the movie allows individuals to see the power of prayer while fighting the everyday battles and letting God win the war!

Today let us remember those families who lost loved ones in the 9-11 attack and those people who gave their lives for freedom for our country as well as those people who are fighting for us right now at this very moment.

Let us also remember to continue to “STAND TALL and kneel down” to pray flaming arrows against the devil; to never ever give up crying out to God for help with the battle; and continue to praise Him everyday as He wins a War against evil.  The devil is GOING DOWN!!!  GOD WILL WIN THE WAR!  STAND TALL and Kneel Down!

Psalm 46:9-10 – He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; He breaks the bow and shatters the spear, He burns the shields with fire.  Be still and know that I am God!  I will be exalted among the nations.  I will be exalted in the earth!

You have got to see the movie “God’s Not Dead”!

Last night we went to see the movie, “God’s Not Dead” based on a recommendation by several friends.  It is awesome!!!!   I have been praying for our country and our state and our local leaders.   Some days it seems like the devil and evil is taking over this world but I know God is in control.  Go see this movie and you will realize that God IS STILL IN CONTROL.  I believe He is starting a revolution across this country – starting in Hollywood!
