My favorite all-time Christian singer, Natalie Grant, posted a video yesterday letting us know that she is battling a benign thyroid tumor. They are very hopeful that after surgery tests will show that there is still no cancer! She is scared of course, as we all would be, but is very optimistic that she will be singing on stage again before year end.
My heart broke for her. I was reminded of her visit to our little town of Greensburg, Indiana and the amazing concerts she performed while here. But I was also again reminded of how that journey of faith to bring her here changed my life. It was a huge leap of faith but one I knew God was calling me to start and even though it was tough, He never failed me. He grew me in my Christian faith more than I can ever explain. That journey, and Natalie Grant, truly changed my life.
I guess that’s why I get so sad and teary as I think about her going through this. She is human even though we sometimes put humans on a pedestal and believe they are “super human”. Nope. She’s a wife, a mommy of 3 beautiful girls, a Christian, a career woman and a friend to many who just also happens to be well-known around the world.
In her video last night she talked about her song, King of the World. She said something like, “I can’t just sing about the King of the World. I have to believe that He is and trust Him through this journey. And I do.” [paraphrased]
Whatever journey you are on; whatever is testing your faith and pulling you down; whatever is causing you worry and pain today – know that God is the REAL King of the World and we have to trust Him to carry us through!
Join me as I commit to pray for Natalie each day that God will heal her completely so that she can continue to bring honor and glory to Him through her story and her beautiful voice.
I had several things weighing heavy on my mind and I just said out loud to God, “please show me something that will take this burden off of me. Please.” I walked into my office and honestly, had very little hope that the Lord was going to be so bold.
But then the picture on my desk of Jennifer Hudson’s Weight Watcher ad (which I keep on my desk for motivation) caught my eye. “BELIEVE. Because it works.” Of course it was referring to the tagline for Weight Watchers but God whispered to me, “I mean it. Believe. Because it works.” And He wasn’t referring to Weight Watchers!
I smiled and then my eye drifted to this little sign on my desk that said “when in doubt, pray”. I smiled again. Then God used this canvas print that I look at everyday (but have basically become immune to) to smack me right in the face. Not literally but figuratively. It said “The Lord has promised good to me.”
Then I laughed out loud and said, “OK, Lord. I get it. Believe that you’ve got it all under control. I need to let it go and let you handle everything. You will bring YOUR good to me.”
So I did. And I am. And hopefully I won’t take it back again….. or you’ll get to read another post about how I let it go and took it back and let it go again and took it back again! hahahaha

Gooey, rich hot fudge dripping off of a scoop… no wait – TWO SCOOPS of mint chocolate chip ice cream. The fudge just warm enough to melt a little of the ice cream as the mint flavor swirls into the thick richness of the chocolate.
HOLY COW……..somebody get me a hot fudge sundae and quick!
Can you envision this beautiful masterpiece of delicious delight? There’s no other dessert that I love better than something with hot fudge. Hot fudge is the king! Hot fudge is the ultimate reward. Hot fudge is the “icing” on the cake – or rather the topping on the sundae!
How excited I get for hot fudge. So silly isn’t it? But God blesses us every day with His own extra hot fudge. We ask for blessings from Him, for answers to prayers and He just smiles because we have no idea that we are only asking for a little in comparison to the rich, flowing, hot fudge of blessings He has in store for us. His love is the extra hot fudge. It’s more than we can ever imagine.
Believe today that God can answer your prayers and bless your life with an overabundance, overflowing richness that can come only from Him. He wants to bless us with extra hot fudge in the ice cream sundae bowl of life! Talk to Him. Ask Him. Believe Him. Love Him.
