I read a fictional story the other day about a lady who got stopped by a police officer while driving to work. She was visibly upset and confused as to why she was handcuffed and arrested. After spending a few hours in jail, the police officer released her with an apology explaining that when he saw her “Honk if You Love Jesus” sticker, the Fish emblem and the Cross symbol on her car and then witnessed her display of anger towards the other driver by blowing her horn and yelling all the while pointing her finger, he naturally assumed she had stolen the vehicle.

WOW! What a funny story with a great message.

Although, I don’t really have an issue with road rage, that story really made me think. It made me think about how our actions are reflections of our heart. And our heart is a reflection of our relationship with Jesus. If we claim we love Jesus but our actions show differently, we can ruin the Christian witness we work so hard to build.

So the next time you get angry at a selfish driver, a rude waiter or a lazy cashier, think before you react and make sure that your actions reflect Jesus. You may be the only Christian “bumper sticker” they ever get to see.
