Throw Me The Life Preserver!

Today’s post may seem a little whiney but hang with me.  It’s me being very real.  Very authentic.  Very tired.  Very overwhelmed.  Everything I’m doing is good stuff, but this morning I woke up feeling like if I didn’t get a life preserver soon, I was going to drown.

I am a very positive person and keep going and going and doing because I love it.  But today with that knot in my throat and tears threatening to escape my eye balls, I realize that I have to reprioritize.  As I was trying to decide which work project to do first, which Bucket Buddies bucket order to place next, and what daily blog and instagram post to create, I realized that my life preserver was sitting on the table.

I read my devotions every morning, but I rush through them so that I can go to get the next thing done that someone is waiting on from me.  I keep dog paddling in the water trying to keep my head above the waves all the while the life preserver is by my side.

My Bible.  Not the one-minute devotionals (which are very good) but the deeper reading, the deeper study, the life saver that never changes yet always has all the answers.  Today I have to grab the life preserver before I go under.

Are you treading water today?  Are you feeling overwhelmed – like you’re drowning in work, laundry, meetings, other people’s requests, worry, loneliness, anger?  Hold out your hand and reach for the life preserver.  I promise the Lifeguard is always on duty and ready to save your life.

Isaiah 43:1-2 -But now, this is what the LORD says– he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

Driving Conditions Bad!

How does a car know to send you a dashboard warning that driving conditions could be hazardous?

Technology just amazes me.  The sensors on my car knew that it was drizzling rain and that the temperature was close to 32 degrees.  It knew that those two factors together should produce a warning message to let me know to be careful while driving because ice could be possible.  Although I didn’t see any signs of ice, I was thankful for the warning to be cautious.

I was thinking how awesome it would be if every time we started to make wrong choices, a little neon light would flash before us warning us of the dangers ahead.  Then I remembered a conversation I had recently where the person said, “deep inside my gut, I know it just isn’t right.”

There it is!  Our conscience.  The Holy Spirit.  God’s leading.  We do have it.  I believe that deep down inside, our human technology processes when the environment, the conditions, the choices we have to make are hard and together with our right-versus-wrong temperature, our inner conscience gives us the warning.

Keep your eyes wide open today, your heart on guard and don’t let the devil’s dangerous conditions steer you off course.  Drive with caution through your day and let God lead you safely through the icy patches.

Toilet Paper Trivia

Toilet Paper.

Over or Under?

If you don’t even understand this question then you are definitely a “roll with it” person.  For those who get it, I bet it bothers you if the paper rolls in the opposite direction.  Is that true?

Have you ever reached for the toilet paper and was thankful it rolled your preferred way?

Or better yet have you ever changed the way it rolls at home, a friend’s house or even in public?

My answer to the questions above are: Over and YES, YES and YES!

It’s crazy how something so simple as a toilet paper roll can get us all bent out of shape.  And as you are reading this you may be smiling or even laughing – either because it’s so ridiculous you can’t believe people argue over this or that you have been there and are now seeing how trivial it is.

Whichever way you roll, I want you to think about living at peace today without worrying about the little things.  Just OVERlook the things that really won’t matter in a year from now (or even an hour from now) and be more UNDERstanding of others.

Start to today, just one day at a time, to relax and really focus and what matters and not on the petty things.  I think you’ll see how much better life can be when we just ROLL with it!

Heart Health

When she said “da da” for the first time, his melted.

When he got on the kindergarten bus, hers skipped a beat.

When she said yes to the prom, she stole his.

When he said, “you may kiss your bride”, his skipped a beat.

When he hit the winning shot, hers swelled with pride.

When he buried his momma from cancer, his broke.

When His stopped beating while hanging on the cross, it became ours to receive.

When we give ours to Him, He holds it in the palm of His nail-scarred hand with tender love and care.

Let’s give ours to Jesus today.  The One after my very own.  The One who sees it on the inside.  The only One that can heal it and make it whole again.  The One who knows the true definition of Heart Health.

Deuteronomy 6:5(a) – Love the Lord your God with all your heart.
