Dinner with Diana or Peace with a Prince?

Oh how I am intrigued by the Royal Family in the United Kingdom!  I was up at 4 a.m. that July morning in 1981 watching every second of the coverage of Charles and Diana and their fairy tale wedding.  I loved the dress, the church, the hats, the accents and of course, the beautiful iconic carriage!

My goal was always to try and have dinner with Princess Di.  What a silly goal.  I always thought if she couldn’t have dinner, perhaps we could have tea.  I don’t even like tea but I would choke it down to get to spend time with this Royal Princess.  I knew if she would just meet me, we would be great friends.  🙂

My fascination with the royals continued after Diana’s death and was recharged as Kate Middleton came on the scene with her own unique style – a little bit of modern-day Diana  mixed with the confidence of her own.

Why are we so fascinated with royalty?  You may say you aren’t fascinated with the Royal family who make their home in Buckingham Palace but I bet there is someone of “royalty” that fascinates you – whether they be in Hollywood, Nashville, New York or DC.

But I ask myself this question:  am I as intrigued by the One who is the Prince of Peace as much as I am the Princess of Wales?

I never got to meet Princess Diana and will most likely never meet anyone of the royal family but I do have immediate access to the Prince of Peace.  The Almighty God.  Wonderful Counselor.  Lord of Lords.

I want to read more and follow more and learn more about the Real Royal Family – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  WOW!  I’m so thankful I don’t have to write a letter, fly across the pond, beg and plead to have one second of a glance at royalty.  I can have it all day long – 24/7 365 days a year just by believing in the One and only Jesus.  I get to have a deep relationship with Him.  Tea whenever I want.  Or hot chocolate.  🙂

This carriage ride of the royals will be the ride of our lives to an unbelievable palace where the streets are made of gold and joy fills our souls forever and ever.  I hope we can sit beside each other on this journey where we can all become a part of God’s Royal Family forever.

Princess Deanna???  I like it!  🙂

There is Hope!

That is the take-away today and the encouragement we need every day. There is hope.

Things seem crazy right now. But don’t give in to worry.  We have something much stronger than the negatives.  We have the power of HOPE.

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.  On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.  2 Corinthians 10:4.

Yes, if you know Jesus you know the One who can demolish strongholds!  When we focus on the darkness in our country today, we tend to get scared.  That’s exactly what the devil wants but we must not forget that the power of God is a divine power to demolish strongholds that cause people to act out in negative ways.

We have the power of prayer to access the One who is stronger than any one or any thing in this universe.  We must stand firm against the devil’s schemes.  The dirty, rotten, little scoundrel’s schemes.

Let’s pray to the Almighty God and ask Him to demolish the strongholds that are bringing darkness to our lives and to our world.

And now let us stand up tall.  Put a smile on our face knowing that we have HOPE because we know the One who provides it.

And besides that, with Jesus, we win in the end!!  Take that, you little weasel.

You know….I feel better already.  🙂

Good Morning!

In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. Psalm 5:3

What a great and peaceful way to start our morning…lay our requests before the Lord. Lay our worries and sadness and heartbreaks before the Lord. Trust His ways and wait in expectation to see what He is going to do for His ways are better than our ways and His thoughts are better than our thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8)

I trust you, Lord. My requests are placed before you and now I wait, peacefully in expectation.

I hope you join me today, my friend. Have a beautiful, peaceful morning.

Positive Polly or Negative Ned?

That new haircut looks great on you.
Good job for making your bed today.
Thanks for cleaning off the table after dinner.

Why do you never listen to what I say?!
Get your lazy self off the couch and do something productive.
How come you can never do anything right?

Words have such an impact on our lives.  We speak thousands of words a day and sometimes we don’t even realize how much they affect others.

Or how they affect our own witness or our duty as a role model.

Think about your conversations today?  Did your attitudes affect your words?  Like if you’re in a bad mood at work, did you bring that attitude home and take it out on your family?

Words, both positive and negative can affect relationships, environments and our own health.

When we are positive and look for the good, we feel better all over – both mentally and physically.

When we are negative or just waiting and anticipating the bad, we get down, depressed, hopeless.

I read an experiment I am going to try today and I hope you will do the same.  Pay attention to how many times you say something negative and write it down on paper or in your phone.  At the end of the day review your findings.  Now tomorrow try extra hard to be positive and do the same exercise.  Which day made your feel better?  Since you were paying attention each day, did you try harder to be positive?

In Ephesians 4:29 Paul says:  “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

In today’s chaotic world, we tend to  already have our negative comments formulated on our tongues when we wake up.  The world doesn’t need more spewing negativity.  The world needs words that build others up; words that are positive and complimentary.

Let’s take Paul’s words to heart and try to build others up today instead of tearing them down.

Are you gonna join me?  Positive Polly or Negative Ned?
