When someone comes into our home, we would generally ask if we could take their coat. We take their coat and hang it either in the closet or on a nearby hook. This way they are free to enjoy themselves without the burden of holding on to or wearing their coat.
When we approach the throne of God, He gently asks, “Can I take your coat? Can I take the burdens that are too heavy for you to carry?” We need to rid ourselves of that extra weight that is bringing us down. Let Him take your “coat” of worry, sadness, anguish and guilt. He will hang it on the hook of the cross and you will never have to be burdened with it again.
