A sign for the latest and greatest upcoming “whatever” certainly gets our attention, doesn’t it?
We don’t want to miss out on something that is exciting and new and that other people will be in the know about. We certainly have some FOMO when we see “coming soon” signs and don’t want to be left out.
Like – seriously! I want to set my alarm or put a reminder on my phone to make sure I don’t miss whatever is coming soon. I may not even know what it is! But that keeps the hype that much more exciting. It makes me want to dig deeper to see what is coming soon.
We see this teaser on the next box office hit.
We see it on the latest and greatest luxury vehicle; the next generation of the cell phone; and even the newest design on the limited edition athletic shoe.
We set up tents and sleep on sidewalks to make sure we get tickets to the hottest concert of the year.
We do a lot of things to prepare for those big events that are coming soon.
But you know what else is coming soon?
WHO else is coming soon?
Yes, the second coming of Jesus could be soon. Do we get as excited about knowing Jesus is coming back and that our eternity will be forever determined by whether we accepted Him as our Savior or not as we do about the next car that can drive itself?
We should. More than anything else on this earth, we should have FOMO about missing out on spending eternity in heaven.
Jesus is Coming Soon. This event is way more important than the next cell phone, tennis shoe or movie.
Will we stay up late reading our Bibles? Will we camp out on the front porch of our friends’ houses to be sure they know Jesus? Will we pray into the morning hours for the lost?
Let’s get some urgency…because He’s coming …and it could be soon.
