A friend of mine had some bad luck with her car recently. She drives a VERY nice car. She ran into a wire and caused damage to one side of her car. Shortly after the incident and before she could get it repaired, someone backed into the other side! A friend of hers took the car to get BOTH sides repaired. He was driving home the “freshly fixed” car and hit a deer messing up the front of the car. Now that’s a bad day!!! But she was a good sport about it all and is glad to have her car back all shiny and in good shape.
It reminds me of the Bible verse in 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 – “we are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” We may feel like the sides of our lives are crushed in on the right, the left and the front and we have no way out. But do not give up or lose heart because Jesus died for us and God is reigning on the throne of this entire universe. 2 Corinthians 4:17 says , “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. ”
Our troubles are only temporary. Through it all Jesus is right there with us helping us along the way, holding us in His arms and encouraging us. We are not crushed, or in despair, or abandoned or destroyed. We are victors in Christ Jesus and through it all Jesus brings JOY.
Psalm 126:3, “The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy”.
So as you go through the day and you get a dent, a bump or a scratch, just remember that Jesus is there with the tools to put you back in good shape with His Joy.
But you still probably need to watch out for the deer.
