I think some days our lives are like a deck of cards. No two days are ever the same. Some days we feel like a king or a queen and other days the Joker devil gets mixed in our lives and messes us up.
There are days we may feel black and gloomy. Things don’t go as planned or sinful thoughts and actions creep into our Christian life. Some days I feel like Paul in Romans 7:15 where he says “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.”
There are days we may feel red – like blood red – when we have been wounded by people’s words or actions.
There are days we work better in pairs and days we have a full house of chores and chaos. Some days our “deck of cards” has no rhyme or reason and feels like a mixed up mess.
But then God comes along and shuffles things up and allows us to see how He has put everything in its proper place. Romans 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.
We find the positive in being a king or a queen. We wear the full armor of God to stand up against the Joker. We remember Jesus took his red blood and washed away our black sins. We remember that He gives us Christian friends and family to help us pair up against the evils of the world. And we thank Him for the full house of blessings He bestows on us every day.
I’m thankful for God’s handy work in our cards of life and glad that we do not have to play against this world all alone – like a game of solitaire – but instead that we are on the side of a loving God who is the Ace that trumps all things!
