I love time.
I know it sounds weird, but I love time.
I love watches.
I love fun clocks.
I love to-do lists and goals and all-the-new-rage Bingo cards that allow me to plan my days, weeks, months and year to the fullest.
I love marking off items on the to-do lists.
I love finding ways to make the most of the time, mixing work with fun and looking for JOY in the center of it all.
But some days I wake up feeling a little overwhelmed or dare I say it out loud…….”bored” with my daily routine.
There I said it. Bored.
But that’s why we have to look for the good, the JOY and the bright spots in our days.
And I found the answer that was revealed to me this morning as I woke to that “lots of the same ole stuff to do before 8:00 a.m.” feeling.
The answer is thankfulness.
The answer is being grateful.
I mean really intentionally grateful and thankful.
For example: I got in the shower and said out loud, “Thank you, Lord that I have hot water to take a shower.”
As I was getting dressed, I thanked God for a plethora of clothes to choose from as I prepare for work.
I was thankful for a toothbrush and toothpaste. For my vitamins. For a refrigerator that kept my morning yogurt cold. For an ice maker and a cooler of cold water at my fingertips. For a toaster and a stove. For the electricity that allows me to fire up my computer. For a job that gives me funds to be able to pay bills and live a fun life. For a husband that always puts me first. Even for a cute and sometimes whiny little kitten that greets me every morning with a squeaky purr and a leg rub.
So now when I wake up and think about all I pile into my 2 hours before work, I am going to try to not get overwhelmed but instead be grateful that I can physically exercise; that I live in a country where I am allowed to read my Bible and do devotions; that I have hot water for my shower; that I have a washer and dryer to clean our clothes and a dishwasher to auto wash my dishes for me; that I have a bed to make and a hairdryer and curling iron to help with my presentation. 😊
And of course for my clock, my Apple® watch, my to-do list and my planner which allows me to keep myself on track to make the most of all that beautiful time God has blessed me with each and every day.
