If you haven’t read the couple blogs on JOY before this one, I encourage you to go read them. I talk about Intentional JOY and finding things that bring you JOY. Hopefully it will set the stage for the fun ideas below.
Some ideas of things I have done either this year, in past years or are planning on doing this year are listed below. I encourage you to get out a notebook or a piece of cardboard along with a red marker and a green marker and start plotting out ideas for your own JOY this season.
I shared this idea with a friend and she went home and told her husband and now several evenings a week, they have been making time to be together to do things that bring them JOY for the Christmas season. She even set up a blanket and did a photo shoot with her husband, herself and their cat!!
Here are some fun Ideas for you to consider as you seek to have a JOYFUL Christmas:
*Have friends over for lunch or meet at a local restaurant.
*Bake gifts to take to those who help you throughout the year – doctor’s office, chiropractor, your tech person, mail carrier.
*Get a massage, facial or manicure/pedicure.
*Pull out some of your favorite outfits and find a place to wear them.
*Wear Christmas attire, earrings, bracelet or just wear red and green. Don’t forget to look to see if you have a Christmas-y scarf.
*Enjoy some hot cocoa by the fire or with a friend at the local cafe.
*Go to an elementary or high school Christmas concert.
*Grab some friends and go caroling at the local nursing home or up and down your street.
*Watch a Christmas movie, under a blanket while eating some Christmas cookies.
*Make homemade fudge – the recipe on the back of the marshmallow creme jar is awesome.
*Wrap gifts. If you want to add a little flare, go to Pinterest and search for gift wrap and create some fun with your packages.
*Read a Christmas book.
*Send some Christmas cards to those who are in the nursing home, elderly, have lost loved ones this year or are just going through a tough time.
*Go to a local Christmas event like a train display, a live nativity or a drive-thru Christmas lights display.
*Volunteer.
*Make a Christmas Holiday Animal Feeding Tree. Look online for ideas of what to provide on the tree and what to avoid so the animals don’t get sick.
*Make treats for your favorite pet.
*Decorate a Gingerbread house with a child, a friend or just enjoy the creativity by yourself. TIP: Buy one that is already put together. Trust me…it will save time and lots of frustration. 🙂
Whatever you choose to do, be sure to find the JOY in the journey of it all!
Happy JOY seeking and a very merry JOY-Filled Christmas to YOU!
