“Neither rain nor snow nor sleet nor hail, can keep the postal workers from delivering our mail.”
We’ve heard the saying.
We’ve believed it.
And truth be told, we’ve come to expect it. No excuses.
The postal service has an important job to perform and they take it seriously. Nothing is to stop the delivery of the mail.
Have you ever stopped to think about what that means? I think about what it means to me.
I get passes on certain things when the weather is bad. The mail carriers do not.
I may get to crawl back under the covers and go to sleep if an event is cancelled due to weather. The mail carriers do not.
I may get to work from home instead of getting out in the snow. The mail carriers do not.
These mail delivery folks have to be patient people. Think of all the times we get Amazon packages delivered. If every person on our mail route ordered and received a package all in one day, that’s a lot of extra packages in the delivery vehicle.
Yes…these mail deliverers need some extra kindness. So today think about a way you can show some extra kindness to your mail carrier.
Some kindness ideas: a gift card; some candy; a small gift basket of chips, water and chocolate for the drive; a bag of Oreo cookies with a bow around it. Pinterest is full of random act of kindness gift ideas.
Take time over the next couple days to show some kindness to the ones who drive through rain, sleet, snow and hail to deliver our packages and drop off our mail. We really can make a difference in this world, one act of kindness at a time.
