THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?
-Corrie ten Boom
How many times do we try to handle situations on our own instead of going to God in prayer first? I know I’m guilty of it. I think I can handle it. I can drive this situation home and take care of it. I don’t need to bother God with this. But then I make a mess of it and go running to Him begging Him to take over.
This quote by Corrie ten Boom really spoke to me. Do I go to prayer when all my options are depleted and I realize I can’t do it on my own? Or do I start out the day by asking God to handle things; letting Him be the driver for the day?
We all have some sense of control factor in our life. I’m going to try to let that go today. Oh I may realize tomorrow that I have picked it back up and need to give it back to God again but that’s ok. Baby steps. Let prayer guide you every day in every situation as a constant in your life rather than reaching out and using it only when you don’t feel in control anymore.
I repeat: Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire? Start today in prayer and let God drive you around all day long.
I Thessalonians 5:17 – pray without ceasing [all day long ]!
