“Over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house we go.”
I love this song. It makes me think of going to my grandma’s house when I was little. One of my fondest memories is of the ice cream truck coming down the street. I remember hearing the chimes of the song and getting a dollar from my mom to run to the street to catch the truck full of ice cream surprises.
I would take my little sister by the hand and we would walk to the corner to wait impatiently. We usually had enough money to buy two of the cheapest ice cream novelties available. It didn’t even matter what we got because it was the excitement of seeing the bright colored, jingle-singing truck arriving outside grandma’s house.
I miss those days and miss my grandma.
What sweet memories do you have of your grandparents growing up? Is there someone from your past that you need to go visit and reminisce with about the good old days?
Make time to go “over the river and through the woods” to spend a little precious time with that someone special today.
