The other day I was driving to work down a side road and there were baby calves running and chasing each other, playing in the field. I stopped my car for a couple of minutes just to watch. They were so peaceful and carefree and happy. Not a worry in the world; running through the open field of newly greening grass and openness that seemed to go on for miles. I felt “peaceful, and carefree and happy” as I watched them. I think I could have sat there for an hour (but didn’t think my boss would appreciate that!) hahahha
I got to thinking about how God smiles down on us when we give Him all our problems. When I lay all my problems at His feet and live life with joy and freedom, it glorifies Him. When God was talking to Moses in Exodus 33:14, He said “My Presence will go with you and I will give you rest.” God’s presence is with us and He wants to give us rest.
That’s what I want today. That’s what I want everyday. I want rest and peace and joy in my journey as I live everyday for Him.
Lord, as I go through the day and worries creep in my mind and negative thoughts begin to take over, help me to realize that you are the peace in the midst of the chaos. You are giving us freedom to run through the fields carefree and enjoy all the creation that you made for us to enjoy – if we just focus on you and lay our worries and burdens at the foot of the cross!
I hope you can find peace in the pasture!
Oh this is such a great heartfelt devotion. Your words lift me up! ????????
