I took a vacation day from work today to get a lot of things done that I was feeling behind on. My house was a mess. I had errands to run and a lot of things that were overwhelming me. I was laying in bed this morning thinking of all the things I wanted to get accomplished today.
I got out of bed practically running to brush my teeth and get laundry in so that I could get everything accomplished on my mental list. I sat down to WRITE OUT my list (as many of you know I am the Queen of List-Making).
And then…………..I felt God gently put His hand on my shoulder……..and say “don’t write Me on the list but start with Me. Don’t work Me in your day, but start your day with Me.”
So I stopped. Relaxed. Got out my Bible, my Bible study and read. And one of the passages I read was in Proverbs 3:9 – “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with a new wine.” Above that passage in my Bible I had written years ago “Put God first”. I think this verse doesn’t just mean with tithing. I think it means with time, talent, money, and yes, Bible study on the busy days.
He is awesome. After I read that scripture and did my other readings, I felt the urge to share with you all what God placed on my heart today. Maybe what He is telling me, and I am telling you, is exactly what He had in mind today. You know……….kinda like the telephone game? You start with something and tell a friend to pass it on to the next friend who passes it on to the next friend who passes it on and so on and so on. Who knows all of the blessings we will see along the way by putting God first today and sharing with someone else what He did for us in the process? Then maybe they will share with someone else and so on and so on.
Let’s try it again tomorrow. And the next day. And the day after that. I hope God blesses you beyond belief today! And then that you will Go Phone a Friend and tell them how great He is.
