Have you ever been praying for something ………and praying………and waiting and you just wonder “is God out there?” Is He listening? I know He is listening. He is omnipresent. He is everywhere so I know even though He has a billion other people seeking His attention, He is listening to me. However, he may be choosing not to answer at this time or in the way I am praying.
That can be frustrating as a human being – as a female Type-A human being. I don’t always have to have things go my way but I want order and organization. I want things done quickly and right. I don’t like waiting. Our society has become very impatient. We can’t wait to read our emails on our laptops so we have them routed to our phones. We rely on microwaves to heat up food quicker. We use drive-thru banks, restaurants and coffee shops. We use self-check at the grocery stores so we don’t have to wait on a cashier to do it for us.
We have become so impatient that if things don’t go quickly enough we take things into our own hands. Unfortunately sometimes we do this with situations that are better off to be handled by God. If he isn’t answering our prayers fast enough, we take it into our own hands without waiting on direction from Him. I’ve done this before and I’ve made a mess out of things.
Psalm 27:14 says “wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Isaiah 30:18 says: “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!”
So when we get tired of waiting and think we’ll just take this situation into our own hands, remember these two verses………..and remember sometimes it’s just hard to wait but we will be blessed if we let Him work!
