The past is the past. We all make mistakes and we will continue to make mistakes. That’s the human side of us. We all sin. But we don’t have to live with those past sins.
We need to confess those sins and ask God to forgive us. And don’t keep looking backwards!!
Don’t keep reminding yourself of those past sins and certainly don’t keep going to God asking again for forgiveness. He has already forgiven you and moved on. You need to forgive yourself and move on.
Paul tells us in Philippians 3:13 (B) that he is “forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.” [New Living Translation]
When you are driving a vehicle down the road, you don’t focus on the rear view mirror or you would get off track and wreck. No. You focus on the road before you and where you are going so you can stay on course.
That’s how God wants us to live our lives – don’t look in the rear view mirror at the past sins and get so focused on them that you lose direction to where you are going. Be like Paul and focus on what’s ahead.
Are you ready? ……………Gentlemen and Ladies – start your engines!!
