I am going to do a series of blogs this week on the Quitter’s Club. They will include the Five D’s of the Quitter’s Club.
Number One D: – Discouraged.
Sometimes I feel like I am spinning my wheels and getting nowhere. Like I’m driving on quick sand and just sinking. Have you ever felt that way? Felt like you work and work and get no traction to move forward.
Maybe it’s housecleaning with toddlers…….or teens. You pick up and have everything looking nice when you go to bed and before you know it the disaster monster seems to have made a visit during the night.
You work hard at your job, doing everything ethical and fast (like the mission statement says to do it) while doing things to make the boss look good and BAM, you’re overlooked for a promotion or backstabbed by the coworker in the neighboring office and discouragement sets in.
You’ve been on this “going to lose weight” or “going to stop smoking” road before. You’ve tried but it’s hard and feel like you start over again and again and maybe it’s just not worth it.
You are discouraged and just want to quit.
Our pastor was telling about a club that a gentlemen formed years ago called The Quitters Club. The intention of the club was to get all of those who wanted to quit something to bond together and basically have a pity party for each other as each one prepared to give up on their goals. They were quitters. But what they found was that members started ENCOURAGING each other to NOT QUIT what they were thinking of quitting. The members became encouragers instead of discouragers.
I challenge you today, as I take my own challenge, to be an encourager. If you find someone who is discouraged on this road in their life, stop and encourage them. If you are discouraged yourself, don’t quit.
Don’t let discouragement win this battle. Become a member of the Reformed Quitter’s Club – the one that encourages others, including yourself, NOT TO QUIT! We can do this thing called life with God by our side. Do not be discouraged.
2 Chronicles 15:7 – But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.
