It’s been said that when you are:
younger you have time and energy but no money;
middle-aged you have energy and money and no time;
and when you are older you have time and money and no energy!!
So as we think about our wishes and how we can make them come true, I think time, energy and money – or rather lack thereof – is sometimes an issue in making our wishes come true.
Today we will consider TIME. Maybe you have plenty of it. Maybe you have very little of it. Maybe it varies. The bottom line is that we all have 24 hours in a day. Now I know some of you are reading this and saying, “but I am soooooooo busy and I don’t really have 24 hours.” Yes you do because it’s how God made the day. However, the difference is what takes up that 24 hours and how we prioritize the time that we do have.
We all have to sleep. Most people have to handle responsibilities – jobs, kids, kids’ events, aging parents, household responsibilities, etc. But somewhere along the line we all have some free time with which we get to prioritize.
So as you think about TIME today, start praying about how you can prioritize to make a wish on your list come true. Maybe you want to just sit and read a book. Will it really upset the apple cart if you take 1 hour out of your day and curl up on the couch or in a porch swing and read a book? I don’t think so. But I bet that ONE hour will rejuvenate you and make you feel better to go back to the responsibilities that you have.
Maybe the only free time you have all day as a mom is at lunch hour. My boss used to tease me about always going out of the office for lunch hour but when my kids were at home, it was the only hour I had to myself. I almost ALWAYS went out for lunch. If you have a job and you never go out of the work place for lunch, just try it. Take the first step and go out by yourself and just take that one hour to relax away from the work environment. Or call a friend for lunch!
We can’t fix every TIME issue, but today I want you to think about YOUR TIME. Look at your responsibilities, your very own 24 hours and customize it just for you. You are worth it!
