I woke up today so tired. Actually so tired I could hardly even open my eyes to get up and get ready for work. I try to always do my devotionals and quiet time as soon as I wake up. So I was trying to “short cut” a bit and pray while I was still laying down, covered up under my warm blankets. As you can imagine, it was just a few words and then I would drift back to a short doze. I finally got up and turned the lights on and began my study and was so aggravated that I didn’t get up earlier!!
One of my readings led me to the perfect verses – Isaiah 40:28-31(NIV). I had these verses underlined AND a box around them in my Bible.
vs. 28 – Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
vs. 29 – He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
vs. 30 – Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
vs. 31 – But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
God always knows what we need. My dear friend told me this yesterday and she is so right: “When we think we can’t………HE can!” If you are struggling like I am to get back into your routine and catch up on rest from all the busyness of Christmas and New Year celebrations, let Him give you strength and renew your hope. I may not RUN any marathons, but I sure want to WALK with Him!
