Have you ever asked yourself that question? “What’s the use?”
You pick up the house and in 15 minutes the kids have dragged toys everywhere.
You do the dishes only to find more stacked in the sink.
You wash and fold the towels, only to find the hamper full again.
Or maybe it’s outside of the home that you ask the question.
Maybe you are trying to be kind to the office grouch and he’s still grouchy.
You allow someone in front of you in line and don’t receive a “thank you”.
You help your kids with a project and they disobey you later.
It may all seem to be for nothing but I’m here to tell you that you can’t give up! WE can’t give up. In Galatians 6:9, Paul encourages the Galatians: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
The people were getting discouraged back in Bible times just like we get discouraged today. But think about this:
What if the doctors stopped doctoring?
Or if the teachers stopped teaching?
Or if the preachers stopped preaching?
Or if the volunteers stopped volunteering?
Or the parents stopped parenting?
Or the fire fighters stopped fighting fires and the 9-1-1 personnel stopped responding?
Everyone can make a difference. E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E!
So when it looks like your compliment to the sales clerk or your extra tip to the waitress or your card to the teacher or your pat on the back to the weary mom doesn’t matter, keep on going. Never grow tired of doing good. Because everyone matters. Big deeds or small deeds. They all matter.
Never grow weary of doing good because we will, one day, reap the harvest.
We really can change the world, one act of kindness at a a time. Now come on…..let’s go change the world.
