This quote by hockey legend, Wayne Gretzky, is priceless. I assume he is referring to hockey but I used this quote many times with my girls during their basketball careers.
But the fact is that we can apply this to our life! What is it that you want to do? What is on your Bucket List? Why are you so scared?
Whatever it is, today is the day to take the shot! Today is the day to press the START button. Do you want to visit the Grand Canyon? Then start making plans and saving money. Chart out your path and go visit the Grand Canyon.
Do you want to start a new career? Research it, find out what kind of education and experience is needed and take steps to sign up for classes. Dress the part.
Do you want to run a marathon? Make a plan. Start walking every day. Start running. Run a half marathon.
Do you want to zipline? Find the closest zipline course. Research the details. Save your money. Schedule it on your calendar.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life! Sitting in your recliner night after night expecting something to happen without making a plan is crazy! God gave us a brain to use. If you say “my life is so mundane and I don’t have any joy”, then do something about it. Get up and create some joy! Joy is not going to plop down on you in your recliner if you don’t do something to help yourself.
God gave us a brain. He wants us to show faith and trust in Him by stepping out and taking chances. He puts dreams in our hearts. One of the fruits of the spirit is Joy! What an awesome word! JOY!! We feel joy in accomplishing things and reaching goals. We get joy in the little things that mean big things to us personally.
What dream or goal means something to you personally? What’s big in your thoughts? What dreams has God placed in your life? Well, get up and go to it!! Life’s too short to sit in the recliner all day. If you don’t step out in faith, you’ll never know what God has in store for you.
Take the shot!…………………. S-W-O-O-O-S-H!
Good post! Moses was standing by the Red Sea, ready to walk across before God parted the waters and they crossed on dry ground. David was on the battle field, sling in hand before God directed a stone to the forehead of Goliath. The old cliche’ “take one step toward God and he’ll take two toward you,” implies that when we take the inititive; God will do the rest.
Love this blog. Very encouraging!
