Have you had someone say to you or you say to someone else, sternly, “give me that!”?

It may have been a child holding a pair of scissors and the words were spoken out of fear.  Or maybe someone was going to pay your tab at the restaurant and you picked it up and they took it from you out of kindness.  Or someone picked up something very personal that you didn’t want them to see and you took it away out of respect and love.

Whether it’s out of fear, kindness, respect or love, sometimes those words come out a little bit sternly showing that you mean business.

I woke up this morning and an old familiar worry came back in my head.  I had given it to the Lord many times and thought I was done with it, but sure as the world, it reared its ugly head almost as soon as my eyes opened.  I seriously felt the Lord grab it and say “give that to me” in a very stern voice.

And I think He means business.  He’s tired of me whining about it.  He’s tired of it stealing my joy and He’s had enough.  So He took it back before I make a mess of it.  It’s not my problem.  It’s not my issue.  It’s His to handle and I have work to get done and a family cookout to plan. 🙂

If you have something that God is trying to take away, out of love, kindness and respect,  so you can have joy and peace, let Him have it.  It’s not worth holding on to.  He knows all, sees all and can take care of all.  Just go ahead and give it to Him.  Now run along and enjoy some peace.

Romans 15:13 – May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
