The table.
It’s more than just a place to eat.
It’s a desk for homework.
A boardroom for family decisions.
A workshop for school projects.
A gathering place where dreams are shared and prayers are whispered.
It’s where stories are told.
Memories are made.
Friendships deepen.
And hearts connect.
Throughout His ministry, Jesus understood the power of what I like to call Table Talk.
The Bible is filled with moments when Jesus used meals and gatherings around a table to love people, teach truth, and point others toward heaven.
Jesus invited people to His table.
He ate with tax collectors and sinners.
He created a make-shift table to feed 5,000.
He shared a final meal with His disciples.
He prepared breakfast on the shore after His resurrection.
He ate at the home of Mary & Martha.
And one day, as believers, we look forward to joining Him at the great banquet in heaven.
So how can we be more like Jesus at our own tables?
Start by inviting others in.
A table creates opportunities to connect, encourage, and build relationships.
Host a Bible study.
Share a meal.
Pray together.
Celebrate life’s victories.
Walk through challenges.
Create new friendships and cherish old ones.
Today, on National Best Friends Day, I had the privilege of using my own table to celebrate a treasured friendship.
We gathered with Grandma’s dishes and enjoyed a simple homemade lunch—a mini salad bar, a cheese and cracker tray, fresh fruit, and @Taneha Negangard’s amazing raspberry macarons.
We laughed.
We shared.
We reminisced.
We embraced the wonderful seasons of life we are in and looked forward to the exciting adventures ahead.
And in that very moment, we experienced all that a table was meant to be – a treasured place where friendships grow, memories are made, and hearts are encouraged.
