Have you implemented any of the Money Saving tips from the last couple weeks?
We have had a blast using our gift cards, rewards and digital coupons. We had a $50 Applebees Card from the Upside App rewards and had dinner there over the weekend. It was enough to even include a shared dessert and tip! I saved $11 at the grocery store by using digital coupons and my reward card and then gained 2,000 points on my Fetch app by uploading the grocery receipt. 🙂 What a fun week it was!
Now let’s move on to some ways of saving additional money by being organized and looking deep into what we really are paying for each month. What are we paying for that we aren’t using or maybe have forgotten about?
I didn’t even remember that I had a subscription to a home design group until the $100 showed up on my credit card. I remembered then and immediately sent a message to get a refund on the $100 and cancel my subscription.
I know for digital subscriptions you can go to your settings and click at the top on your name for your Apple Account (iPhone users) to check subscriptions under the subscription tab and cancel any unwanted ones.
Look closely at the bills you get each month.
Are you paying for insurance on the phone that isn’t worth it anymore?
Are you paying for data for a tablet that you use only on wi-fi?
Are there streaming subscriptions you pay for that you have rarely or never used?
I also know sometimes if you pay online bills with a credit card instead of a bank account you get charged a fee. Look at those payments and set up secure bank payments instead, avoiding credit card fees.
Maybe you are notoriously late at paying your credit card bill and the late fee and interest is horrible. Set up an auto pay feature to have it come out of your bank account before the due date so no late fees or interest is ever charged. It’s always best to pay off the credit card each month to keep from paying interest. If you ever get charged a late fee, just call the credit card company and ask for the fee to be removed as a courtesy and they will usually do it. Yes, I know because I had to do it before I set up auto pay. 🙂
And last but not least…evaluate where your money is going each month. Review your credit card bills closely. Eliminate the things you no longer use or don’t serve you well.
This week’s idea is one that can really add up the savings if you just take even one hour to review the subscriptions, the credit card bills, the phone bills, etc.
You certainly don’t want to be paying the forgotten gym fee if you’re staying home watching Netflix. Just sayin’.
Share with us the fabulous savings you find this week. Happy February!!
It’s so great to get your emails again Dean. I love these money saving tips and I’ve been working on them. Especially the sub subscriptions that I don’t use or I need to tweak.
I haven’t tried any of those app apps, but maybe I will give one a try based on your suggestions.
And yes, I found that I had $200 in PayPal cash that I applied to my balance this past month in January. Woo hoo!
