This saying came to my mind this morning as I woke up really early praying for my cousin who is having brain surgery today. I know there are so many people praying for her.
I started praying my “usual daily” prayers for my husband, my daughters, my mom, my in-laws, my friends and others.
I was praying for my friends who recently lost their mother.
I was praying for a couple young moms for the Lord to bless them during some trying days.
I was praying for direction for some decisions.
You know…….all. the. things.
And then it hit me.
Not everybody has somebody who will pray for them.
Seriously.
Maybe the homeless person on the streets of San Francisco doesn’t have somebody praying for him/her.
Maybe the person you meet walking down the street or driving down the interstate doesn’t have somebody to pray for them.
Maybe the person in jail for the fourth DUI doesn’t have somebody to pray for them.
I then started thinking about all the people who I know both in real life like in my own town and in my own life who may not have somebody committed to pray for them. And I thought about those in “the Hollywood life” who may not have somebody praying for them.
How sad is that?!!
Who can YOU pray for today that may not have a somebody to pray for them?
You can be that somebody!
Maybe it’s someone who has hurt you or someone who wasn’t raised knowing Jesus.
Maybe it’s the annoying person at the restaurant or the one who talks loudly at the library. 🙂
Maybe it’s the kid who was a bully in elementary and grew up to continue to be a bully in adult life.
Maybe it’s the person you see on TV handcuffed in a court room.
Maybe it’s a famous person who has been caught in drugs and lies and deception.
Famous people are people, too. They need prayer, like everyone else.
So stop.
Right now.
Ask God who you can pray for.
Whoever you think of – whether you like it or not – spend the next few weeks praying for that person every time God brings them to your mind.
You may be the only somebody that prays for them which may just cause a turnaround in their life. They may come to know Jesus because YOU prayed for them.
It’s worth our time. To be the Somebody.
For the person. Who may have Nobody.
Praying.
