Yesterday my husband, daughters and I took my mom and dad to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina.  My mom has always wanted to go there at Christmas time and with my sister being sick the last several years and passing away last December, my parents had never taken the time to go.  My husband thought it would be a good road trip opportunity.

So off to Asheville we went! We had a great road trip with the six of us laughing and chatting and eating more snacks!!  (It’s Christmas time remember. hahaha)  We booked reservations for one of the evening candlelight tours and it was awesome!!  Seeing the forty-some beautifully decorated trees just put an exclamation mark on my Christmas spirit!  The intricate architecture of the home along with learning the history of the family and the estate was fascinating.

But most of all………spending special time with my mom and dad was THE BEST!  I don’t spend enough time with them. This trip made me realize how much we need to slow down and enjoy every minute with those we love.  I think sometimes we get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of Christmas and doing all the things we think we are supposed to do that we forget to actually enjoy our loved ones.

The Twelve Days of Christmas Kindness Challenge for Day 10 is to make an extra special effort to stop and spend a little time with someone we care about.  Do you need to spend a few concentrated minutes or hours with your parents, your sibling, your best friend, your child, your neighbor or your grandparent?

Don’t lose any more precious time, or take the chance of having the “I wish I would have” syndrome.  Set your priority today to spend a little time with those who are very special to you……..and let them know just how special they are.  It’s the gift of time that just keeps on giving.

Merry Christmas-Slow-Down Day!!
