Psalm 90:14 says “Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days”.

You can’t help but smile when you see the word JOY.  Joy is an emotion that is described in Merriam Webster as “a feeling of great happiness; success in doing, finding or getting something.”

Everyone receives that feeling of JOY from different things.  When our kids played sports we got such JOY from watching them play.  Seeing the sun shine gives me JOY.  Spending the day with friends brings JOY.  Riding my bike and swinging on my porch swing brings me JOY.  We could go on and on about what things bring us JOY.

As I think about JOY, I think about these things that bring me JOY but knowing that God has given me all these things is what really brings me JOY.  Sometimes JOY and HAPPINESS are intertwined and considered the same thing.  Both JOY and HAPPINESS give us great feelings.  But it is important to realize that JOY goes deeper than HAPPINESS.  Happiness is a result of having JOY.  JOY is deeper.  JOY can be had even when we are not happy.  JOY comes from knowing the Lord.  JOY is a relationship with Jesus.  JOY is a result of having God in your life.

Look inside you and see what brings you Happiness and then dig deep down and find your JOY – the JOY that only God can give!  The JOY that is the fruit of having the Spirit living in you.

I would love to hear from you about what brings you HAPPINESS and JOY……………I pray you find great JOY as you journey through the day!
