Today I got up and wanted to start my day on the run. I had so much going through my mind and I thought “I need to do my Bible study”. But I found myself looking ahead to my to-do list and all that I wanted to accomplish today and found myself thinking that reading a 1 minute “start your day” devotion may be enough for today.

So even though I knew I should do more reading and studying, I was still struggling and torn to doing a shorter one and get my day started. The short reading involved Hebrews 12. The reading said “Linger in my presence a while. Rein in your impulses to plunge into the day’s activities. Beginning your day alone with me is essential preparation for success….Similarly your time of being still in my Presence equips you for the day ahead…..Relax with Me while I ready you for action.”

What a slap in the face!! A gentle reminder. God already has the day planned for us. He already knows what we will attempt, what we will accomplish, what we will mark off of our to-do list and what will wait until tomorrow or will never rise to the top of importance.

So it is important that we remember WHO is important. We need to remember WHO has control of the to-do list and the events of the day. The Lord wants us to be successful and not be lazy and accomplish a lot and have joy in our successes. We just have to stop and recognize that He is the one that we serve.

Have a great day!!
